Newsletter #8 from highways contractors at Crosskeys Roundabout.
Progress since 2nd August
During the last two weeks we have installed the drainage, constructed the new widened carriageway and the shared use cycleway/footway in the verge outside M&S on the A38 towards Stroud/Whitminster.
The footway/cycleway outside McDonalds has been constructed, ready for surfacing. We have also completed a gas main diversion.
The kerbs are installed opposite the M&S verge for the new carriageway and cycleway/footway layout.
The footway/cycleway construction and kerb line installation on the A38 toward Gloucester from Cross Keys Roundabout is coming along well, with topsoil and surfacing to be started shortly.
Barriers have been installed along the central reservation between the northbound/southbound arm of the A38 to/from Gloucester to protect our workforce.
We will be continuing with the surfacing and top-soiling programme in various areas of the site, including; the verge outside M&S, the verge of the A38 from Cross Keys Roundabout toward Gloucester and the footway outside McDonalds.
Work will continue on the construction of the carriageway and footway on the A38 approach to Cross Keys from Whitminster/Stroud.
We will be installing new signage around the site, with appropriate traffic management and lane closures depending on where we are working. This will continue over the next two weeks and will potentially change daily, depending on the progress of the works, so please take care when traveling through the area of work.
As we progress with these important improvements, your patience is greatly appreciated.
If you have any concerns or issues regarding the roundabout improvement scheme, please contact me on 03301 071484*. I will be available throughout the construction phase to provide continuous engagement with businesses and residents within the local area.
