There is some confusion on social media regarding the Gloucester Marathon on Sunday (20th Jan), especially the road closures around Hunts Grove. Therefore we wanted to share our understanding following a meeting with the organisers HGRA had before Christmas. The race hours are 09:55 – 16:15
On first reading, the closures do look very confusing. We are posting the information below based on our understanding from those discussions – there may be inaccuracies, so if you have anything time-critical happening on Sunday, please contact the race organisers as listed below.
Our understanding is that there will be minimal delay to traffic arriving or leaving Hunts Grove. There may be temporary rolling closures of 10-15 minutes, but likely less, when heading in to Hunts Grove on Waterwells Drive, between the hours of 10:15 – 11:15.
Key to note:
- Telford Way (The road by the Park & Ride when heading from ASDA) will be closed heading to Waterwells between 10:10 and 11:10 (use A38 instead);
- A38 Waterwells Roundabout – the Waterwells exit will be closed in both directions between 11:00 and 16:15 (use diversion A38 via Kingsway ASDA) (See Map Below);
Unlike previous race days, the race is starting and ending in Quedgeley, so expect some restrictions around both Hardwicke and Quedgeley (full details of the route and restrictions below).
HGRA cannot provide any further information. If you require any further clarification regarding this event please contact the organiser Beyond The Limitations on [email protected]
